Which Border Do You Need?

define-bordered-edge.jpg

The border of the paper refers to the perimiter of the paper closest to the edge.

Type One: Designed or decorative printed borders.

When speaking of a design element close to the outer edge of a card, the border is a printed component along with the other items being printed on the surface of the card. A hand-applied border to a paper is not in reference to printing at all.

Type Two: Hand-applied bordering.

This hand border is applied with an additional process to the printing. When applied fully, it also colors the cut edge of the card. When stacked, the papers show a consistent color on their sides. Due to how hand-bordering is accomplished, some papers are not suitable for this process.
